Pitcher Mountain Hike Sept 15th

Pitcher Mountain Hike Sept 15th: History & Future of NH Trails

A short hike next Saturday afternoon, September 15th, to Pitcher Mountain in Stoddard is an opportunity to learn how the SRK and Monadnock-Sunapee Greenways are part of a larger vision of recreation, habitat preservation, and related environmental goals for western New Hampshire. As an added bonus, there is a chance to see hawks during the peak of their fall migration.

The summit of Pitcher Mountain on this short loop hike offers panoramic views of the Quabbin-to-Cardigan (Q2C) region of southwestern New Hampshire.

Forecast: Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

The hike, sponsored by SPNHF, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, will be led by Chris Wells. Chris will provide a brief history of hiking trails in the area and talk about new efforts by the Forest Society and its partners to work with landowners and trail enthusiasts to expand hiking opportunities in the region.

The hike is offered as part of SPNHF’s annual meeting in Keene, NH. You can sign up for the hike only. For information on the hike only or all of SPNHF’s annual meeting events, see www.forestsociety.org or Contact Heidi DeWitt at  or 603-224-9945.
